By Air
The Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is the main international airport of the country and is also the busiest one. It is sited at a distance of about 40 kilometers to the southwestern part of Taipei. It is well connected with all the major cities excepting those in mainland China. Commuting to the airport is also not that difficult as it is well connected by direct buses. The other airport of Taiwan known as Songshan Airport is known to serve only domestic flights. The direct flights of Taiwan are available to any of the individuals who are carrying valid documents.
By Train
The train system of Taiwan is excellent and has stops in all the major cities. All the train stations are located in the center of the cities. They also serve as the most convenient hub for almost all types of transportation. The rail network of Taiwan also allows you to bypass the highways which get jampacked with people especially on the weekends. The Taiwan High Speed Rail forms the new backbone of the Taiwan railway network. The mainline trains of Taiwan are however run by the separate Taiwan Railway Administration. For long distance travel, it is recommended to book the tickets well in advance.
By Bus
The bus system of Taiwan is well connected throughout the city. The intercity buses are called 'keyun' and the buses, which run around the county and the city, are known as 'gongche'. The buses owned and runned by the private companies are luxurious and often boast of the provision of modern amenities. In order to board a bus in Taiwan you need to hail it much like that of a taxi.
By Metro
The capital city of Taiwan is known to have a fairly comprehensive subway system and the metro system makes traveling around the capital city quite easy going. The prepaid travel cards are also available for the regular travelers and are available in the metro stations.
By Taxi
If you do not wish to commute in the city by the public transport, you can easily avail a taxi. Besides serving as a comfortable means of communication, it is also a very convenient. There are lots of taxis in Taiwan and various types of car rental for your to choose from.
